Roland - Solvent Inks

SOLVENT INKS FROM ROLAND

INNOVATION

The revolutionary Roland solvent ink set marks another innovative breakthrough from Roland. Roland solvent inks were developed to provide a high level of UV stability without the need for additional ventilation. Branded as Roland SOL INK, these unique inks bring great color and ease of use to the outdoor solvent market.

Roland SOL INK is an important part of an integrated solution. Used with a SOLJET printer and SOLJET Certified Media, Roland offers an affordable and reliable solvent output solution.

MILD SOLVENT

Solvent inks have been a huge benefit to the outdoor printing market due to their high UV resistance. Until now, the solvent inks utilized for these outdoor applications have a high-volatility formulation. Sometimes referred to as “hot solvents”, these original solvent inks required special ventilation to protect users from the solvent vapor. Roland SOL INK has a very low-volatility formulation. Classified as a mild solvent, SOL INK is virtually odorless and does not require any special ventilation.

COLOR GAMUT

Roland solvent inks have a wider color gamut compared to other solvent inks currently on the market. SOL INK uses pigment particles that are suspended in a solvent carrier fluid at higher concentrations than most solvent inkjet inks - yielding a wider color space.

Roland SOL INK is available in CMYK + Light Cyan and Light Magenta for a broad color gamut that can offer both photographic quality and smoother gradations in pastels, shadows and skin tones. Coupled with Roland’s renowned ink droplet control, SOLJETs can print at resolutions ranging from 360 to 1440dpi.

UV STABILITY

Roland solvent inks are changing the perception that solvent printers are synonymous with strong odors and special ventilation. Now you can have the best of both worlds -- outdoor longevity with an exceptional color gamut and photographic quality output. In addition to SOLJET Certified Media which has been developed especially to optimize output on the SOLJET, a wide variety of additional media types are compatible with Roland solvent inks.

EASE OF USE

The unique low-volatility SOL INK translates into less work for SOLJET owners. Unlike traditional solvent inks, SOL INK is very printer-friendly and requires little daily maintenance. For added peace of mind, Roland’s warranty includes on-site service during the first year.

SOL INK is packaged in 220ml cartridges as an alternative to messy bulk ink systems. The cartridges insert easily into the SOLJET to provide a clean, airtight seal to the ink delivery system on the device. The Roland cartridge delivery system means that there's no mess refilling cartridge containers and ensures that no debris can enter the ink delivery system. Ink cartridges are self-sealing and can be removed and reinserted at a later time.

Piezo inkjet head technology is exceptionally ink efficient. In addition, all Roland printers monitor ink usage. More importantly, when the SOLJET senses a low ink cartridge, the printer can be set to finish the job and then pause or set to pause immediately and chirp to indicate a nearly empty ink cartridge.

INK/MEDIA CALIBRATIONS

Roland has ink and media ICC calibrations for the various print resolutions offered by ColorChoice® software. ColorChoice® comes with each Roland inkjet printer and includes preset calibrations that take ink load levels, color characteristics, media white point and many other factors into account to insure accurate color reproduction. The latest preset files are available from Roland’s website (click here) which features a unique ICC Profile Wizard that allows users to more easily download the files they wish. Simply choose the ink/media combination that is right for your application and you can be confident of "Getting it right on a Roland."
